When are hairdressers and beauty salons reopening

furaha

We have been in one form of lockdown or another for the past 12 months. Recently, the prime minister announced that on the 12th of April 2021, hairdressers, beauty salons and other close contact services will be allowed to reopen.

New rules on reopening

Barbers, hairdressers and other “close contact services” are among the most difficult for governments to open because of the closeness of customers and employees. In April, only procedures that “involve cutting or grooming the hair on the head,” will be allowed. Other services such as nail salons and tanning salons are excluded from the April reopening.

What is happening elsewhere

Elsewhere in the country, things are not as straight forward and someplace have opened even earlier. If you are in Wales for instance, you can already get a haircut as early as the 15th of March. It’s 1st of April in Northern Ireland. The First Minister is yet to announce a date for those in Scotland.

What does this mean for you?

Well, you can start booking an appointment now for the 12th of April as services will be very popular when they finally reopen. You can find services to book on Furaha.

It’s bad news for any one looking for nail technicians though or makeup artist. There are no dates for those reopening. See the full government advice here.
